1D GUNUNG PANTI TREK, JOHOR |
|
|
|
GUNUNG PANTI, has been assumed to be a novice mountain and a walk – over
to some... however, it may prove to be one strenuous trek. Taking this
day trip is, in reality, an appetizer for those thinking of going
further to Sabah and the Himalayas. Your adventure begins with a morning
drive towards the Kota Tinggi Waterfalls where you commence your walk towards
the base of the Panti Ridge.
The trek up to the ridge will take approximately 2 – 3 hrs depending on one’s fitness level. Under thick jungle canopy, you will follow the seasoned mountain trail and climb a couple of small hills along the way. The gradient of the trek is uphill all the way until you get to the bottom of a cliff from where you will need to scramble up. With some help of giant roots, ropes (if required) and assistance from your fellow members you should be able to ascend and descend this rock cliff. Besides this stretch, there is no other ‘difficulty’. No wild animals are expected unless one is really lucky. You may occasionally disturb some wild boars along the trail. Expect the usual mosquitoes at a stream crossing area and the blood-sucking leeches – all taken care of with the ever essential insect repellent. |

1D GUNUNG LAMBAK TREK, JOHOR |
|
|
GUNUNG LAMBAK, stands tall at 510m. This Lambak Trek is popular as a day-tripper for the Singaporeans and locals alike. We will trek via the highly eroded trail with large giant steps to reach the summer house on the top of the mountain. Depending on the fitness level we will take a more challenging route via a different route, i.e., we do a `Traverse’. Participants are strongly advised to wear shoes for this trek and to bring a set of disposable rainwear. |

3D GUNUNG BELUMUT, JOHOR |
|
|
|
Stand on the
top of Gunung Belumut, the nearest mountain to Singapore and is easily
accessible yet not that crowded as Mt Ophir. Although it’s only 3313ft or
1,010m , it is quite a tough climb for those less fit or for first timers. Using a tourist approach, this trek
can be completed within a day. The actual trek is uphill almost all the way to
the false and true summits of Belumut. But you climb without a heavy pack
except your picnic lunch and drinking water and descend within a day. You
will expect to be hiking for about 6-7 hrs with rest stops.
From
Singapore you travela little more than 2 hrs to arrive in Kluang, spend a night in this fast
developing Johore town. The following morning, you leave for Kahang Timor
(40mins) to start the trek up to the mountain. The total distance to the
Top is 6km. It will be an uphill climb, crossing a series of knolls, along
a well-trodden jungle trail until you arrive at the steep slopes before
the false summit. From here it’s another 20 minutes to the Top of Belumut.
After taking the mandatory summit photos you descend to the start point
to wash-up and prepare to travel back to Kluang, for the second night’s
stay.
